The Flavors of Music Practice Incentive

The Flavors of Music Theme/Practice Incentive officially begins this week, and I am so excited! Thank you to Abi for the theme idea, and Reesa and Roma for the idea of squishies as awards! I am having so much with it. I think I love squishies as much as my students do! To find out more about "The Flavors of Music", take a look at your child's assignment book which was sent home last week, and look for "The Flavors of Music" description sheet. Students will earn points for all their accomplishments: practicing, learning a piece, passing pages in their books, doing their theory, sightreading, rhythm drills, improvising, composing, performing, memorizing, and much more. Take a look at the points sheet for a complete listing. On the points sheet, you will see that some boxes are shaded in pink. Those are our areas of special focus this year, and it's required that they complete a certain number of each. I determined these areas by observing my students' needs last year, and determining how to strengthen them. They can earn a squishy for all four categories when completed! They also earn a squishy and a ticket to the ice cream sundae party when they obtain 250 points, and a bonus squishy for practicing 100 days!  It sounds complicated, but it's really not. Just encourage your child to read their assignment book, and practice and they will have no trouble completing all of their goals!
